Staff Partner: Events Manager/Membership Outreach Manager

Role Purpose

■ The Corporate Sponsorship Co-chair is a major role with within the dinner committee. In some instances, when there is a large amount of funds raised each year and year-round relationship building is required, this position may also have a role on the Steering Committee, at the discretion of HRC’s local Board members.

■ Build and manage a local corporate sponsorship program that provides businesses, individuals, and organizations with a means of supporting HRC. Use the local dinner as the primary vehicle to gain sponsorships, and use other local HRC events when appropriate.

■ Develop and coordinate a corporate sponsorship strategy in consultation with dinner Co-chairs, Board Members and Event Managers.

■ This position ideally should function on a year-round basis to solicit support for the primary event, using personal connections within the LGBTQ community.

Major Responsibilities

■ Establish a relationship and seek the advice and guidance of your community’s assigned Events Manager

■ Identify and target prospective companies in your community for local sponsorships

■ Market the benefits of an HRC corporate sponsorship by meeting with local businesses and business owners to develop a dialogue and awareness of HRC in order to facilitate future local and national donations

■ Identify and procure sponsors and donors to provide monetary donations to dinner events

■ Maintain/grow existing corporate sponsorships

■ Be familiar with HRC’s national corporate giving policies and assist in explaining those guidelines (i.e. — tax deduction issues or rankings on the CEI) or consult with your community’s assigned Events Manager.
